These terms

These terms are the agreement between you and theLabs, an independent applied-AI lab run by one person based in Indonesia. They cover this website (thelabs.id), the Dalang API, the Kayon desktop app, and the Cempala local server. By using any of them, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use them.

What we provide

This website is informational. Dalang is a hosted AI API, currently in private preview. Kayon is a free application you download and run on your own Windows machine. Cempala is a free, open-source local server that connects AI coding agents already on your machine. What we promise about each of them differs, so they are set out separately.

Dalang is in private preview

Dalang is not generally available. Access is limited and granted at our discretion, features and limits may change, and we may suspend or end the preview. We do not promise any level of uptime or availability during the preview, so please do not build anything you depend on around it yet.

No pricing is published on this site — pricing lands at general availability, not before. Rates bind us only through an agreement covering your actual access.

Your Dalang key

Keep your API key secret. You are responsible for what is done with it. If you think it has been exposed, tell us at [email protected] and we will replace it.

Kayon runs on your machine

Kayon is free, MIT-licensed open source, and runs locally, on your computer and under your control. That means you are responsible for how you use it and for what it does on your machine. Four things are worth stating plainly:

• The installers are not yet code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen will warn you that the app is unrecognized. Only install builds you got from us.
• Kayon downloads open-weight models from Hugging Face. Those models are licensed by whoever published them, and complying with their licences is your responsibility.
• Kayon's tools can run code and write files on your computer. It asks you to confirm first, and that confirmation is the real boundary: the code is not sandboxed and runs with your user's permissions. Do not approve anything you do not understand.
• Kayon's fit verdicts and benchmark figures are calculated estimates about your hardware. They are as honest as we can make them, but they are not a guarantee of performance.

Cempala runs on your machine

Cempala is free, Apache-2.0-licensed, and runs locally. It coordinates other AI coding agents you have installed, so you are responsible for how you use it and for what those agents do with the work it hands them. Four things are worth stating plainly:

• Cempala dispatches work to agent CLIs such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, Antigravity and OpenCode. Those tools are governed by their own vendors' terms, and what they do with a handed-off task, including running code on your machine, is subject to the approvals you give them.
• Its trust boundary is your home folder minus a fixed denylist of sensitive paths, and anything outside it needs your explicit approval first. Every handoff, denial, and escalation is recorded in an audit log that is never pruned automatically.
• Its network enforcement is honest rather than absolute: handoffs request no network by default, and every result states which guarantee actually applied. For some agents that is a hard, system-level wall; for others it only removes web tools; and for at least one it cannot be applied at all, which the result says plainly rather than implying a protection that was never in place.
• The Windows binary is not yet code-signed, so SmartScreen will warn on first run. Only install builds you got from our GitHub repository. Cempala is an independent project by theLabs, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic or OpenAI.

Acceptable use

Use the services lawfully. Do not use them to harm people, to break the law, or to infringe anyone's rights. Do not try to disrupt or overload the service, or to reach data that is not yours. Do not try to reverse or extract Dalang's coordination policy.

We may suspend access that breaks these rules.

Your content

What you send to Dalang, and whatever you keep in Kayon or Cempala, stays yours. We claim no ownership of it. We process what you send to Dalang only to return your answer, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Our rights

theLabs, Dalang, Kayon, and Cempala names, this site, its text and design, and our software belong to us, and these terms transfer none of that to you. The open-source components we ship, and the models you download, carry their own licences, which govern those parts instead.

No warranty

The services are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind, so far as the law allows. We do not warrant that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

This deserves emphasis for AI output generally: models can be confidently wrong. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.

Limits on our liability

So far as Indonesian law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for lost or corrupted data arising from your use of the services. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the products change. We will update the date at the top of this page, and if a change is significant we will say so. Continuing to use the services after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Indonesia, and any dispute arising from them will be handled by the competent Indonesian courts.
